Flamengo sign Resende star Wellington

Flamengo have moved quickly to snap-up Resende's stand-out full-back Wellington.

It is common place for bigger sides to move quickly for players starring in the state championships for smaller rivals and Flamengo have moved quickly for 24-year-old right-back Wellington.

“I knew of Botafogo's interest,” Wellington told journalists. “But, the president of Resende told me on Wednesday that a deal was close with Flamengo. I understood nothing!

“It is cool. I'll play alongside idols like Ronaldinho and Vagner Love. I will be at Flamengo and fulfil a dream.”

The move will likely mean the end of Galhardo's season at Flamengo, with the young full-back now expected to make a loan-move for the second-half of the campaign.
