Juninho Pernambucano has confirmed that he will miss Vasco's Copa Libertadores clash against Alianza Lima on Tuesday because he will undergo dental surgery.
The 37-year-old midfielder was whacked in the face during the Cruz de Malta’s Copa Libertadores encounter with Nacional (Uru) back in February, and has since been wearing a gum shield to protect the rest of his teeth.
''I'm out of Tuesday's game because I need to have dental surgery,'' Juninho told reporters on Friday. ''I was whacked in the face against Nacional and my implant came out.''
''I have been taking antibiotics for a while, and either on Monday or Tuesday I will undergo surgery.''
The former Lyon player is expected to return to action for Vasco's Carioca state championship clash against arch-rivals Flamengo next Saturday.
