Brazilian Cleiton Xavier grabbed a late goal to give Ukranian outsiders Metalist Kharkiv hope in the Europa League Quarter-Finals.
Cleiton Xavier, 28, moved to Ukraine in 2010 for €4.5 million from Palmeiras and has captained Metalist to their best ever continental result.
With Sporting having overcome Metalist's fierce opening to take a 2-0 lead through goals from Marat Izmailov and Emiliano Insua, Marko Devic was felled in the final minute to earn Metalist a lifeline.
Up stepped captain Cleiton Xavier and buried the spot-kick past Rui Patricio to give Metalist a potentially crucial away-goal.
