Yesterday FC Shakhtar Donetsk earned a 1-1 draw at home to FC Schalke 04 in the UEFA Cup Round of 32. This was the first official match of Shakhtar in this yaer. Ailton played for Schalke and four brazilian players came on for Shakhtar. Francelino Matuzalem and Brandao played from 1 minute, but Ivan Saraiva, Jadson and Elano started on the bench.
Ailton had fired Schalke ahead after just seven minutes. Midfielder Matuzalem was the best in Shakhtar and made much work as team’s leader. Tall striker Brandao had several chances to make a goal, but he scored only on 86 minute after great assist from debutant Jadson who came twelve minutes before. Elano was brought on from the break and played not very well on right flank. Ivan stayed on the bench.
