Sunday saw the classic clash of Santos vs Corinthians in the Paulista Championship. Santos the national league champions faced a recently created & weathly Corinthians team with star buy Carloz Tevez facing the soon to be departing (to Real Madrid) star Robinho.
The media built up this game as a battle between these two stars. But on the day only one turned up to play. Robinho excelled scoring twice as Santos won 3-0 mean while Tevez appeared to have his mind elsewhere. Possibly due to the talk last week of a big money offer to play in Europe?
Even Robinho seemed to be shocked at how badly Tevez had played “Tevez is a great player, but this time I had the advantage against him’ he told the press afterwards.
The win moved Santos up into 2nd the Championship and left Corinthians trailing behind in 7th place.
