PSV Eindhoven have snapped up a 13-year-old Brazilian player that is already being described as a superstar of the future.

Nicao – whose full name is Maicon Vinicius da Silva – has been signed on non-professional terms and will be given schooling and a home in Holland by PSV.

“During the 30 years I have worked in football I have never seen anyone like this, said Carlos Roberto Carvalho – the president of Nicao’s current club side Mirassol in Brazil.

“Nicao is a real black Maradona. He plays as well as Ronaldo and is like Romario in his best moments.”

Nicao is not allowed to sign professional terms until he turns 16, but the orphan’s legal guardian – his grandmother- will receive a retainer of $500 a month.

The teenager will also continue to play in the Brazilian youth league, commuting between the two countries for different seasons.

This comes the week after it became know that Man utd had sent scouts to assess the qualities of Jean Carlo Chera (aged 9!), known as Anderson.
