Following the Brazil star’s equaliser, Vagner Love stepped up to grab the lead for the Rubro-Negro, turning in Léo Moura’s cross at the near-post. A first goal since his return for the dreadlocked striker.
With just minutes to go, Flamengo were comfortable as pacy winger Negueba sprang the offside trap to burst through and slide the ball past the keeper into the gaping net.
Victory sees Flamengo progress to take on fierce rivals Vasco da Gama in next week’s Taça Guanabara semi-final, the first-stage of the state championships.
