Signed from Spartak Moscow for over €3 million, there was a great expectation on the former-Flamengo player, but injury and poor-form conspired to see fans disappointed and Ibson removed from first-team reckoning.

Now, following a fine individual start to the 2012 season in the absence of the first-team stars, Ibson has worked his way into the first-team set-up.

Now, with Elano and club manager Muricy Ramalho in dispute, the 31-year-old Ibson will be a crucial member of the team and has promised to work hard to seize his chance.

“Since returning from holiday, I worked hard to have a chance,” said the midfielder, speaking to Lancenet!

“I have played well this year and I want to help Santos.”
