The newspaper believes that with Pepe in the doghouse at the Santiago Bernabeu, following a stamp on the hand of Lionel Messi in last week’s El Clasico encounter, André Villas-Boas will look to bring the defender to Stamford Bridge.
The Brazilian-born Portuguese international would not come cheap, having been purchased for £25 million from Porto in 2007, whilst earning £3 million a year in wages, but the Chelsea boss is a known admirer of the centre-back.
With fans starting to turn against him and the Real Madrid hierarchy believing that his actions are ‘harming the image of the club’, could it be that Pepe does find himself on English shores in the summer? It would certainly add yet more intruige to the Premier League equation.
