The Minas Gerais side, who were playing in the second tier of their state championships in 2011, have revealed that negotiations are close to completion, with the player set to be unveiled next week.

A flight is booked to bring the player from Quito next Wednesday, in what is potentially the biggest shock transfer in Brazil’s recent footballing history.

Caicedo, 23, has played thirty-two times for his country, scoring five times. Previously at Basel, Manchester City and briefly Sporting Lisbon on loan, amongst others, Caicedo is currently contracted to Lokomotiv Moskow in Russia.
