Zagallo becomes the latest elite figure to vote in the Samba Gold Trophy race

Legendary Brazilian player and coach Mario Zagallo has become the latest former-player to vote for the winner of the Samba Gold Trophy 2011 and sprung a surprise.

Zagallo, who played in the World Cup victories of 1954 and 1958, coached in the victory of 1970 and assisted in 1994, is one of the greatest figures in the history of Brazilian football and therefore a fine judge of players' capabilities.

First Pick - Júlio César

"I choose the goalkeeper Júlio César," said the 80-year old when speaking to Sambafoot. "He is one of the best in his position in the world and represents Brazil well elsewhere. He really does well in the yellow of Brazil."

Second Pick - Lúcio

Mario Zagallo went for 2011 Copa América captain Lúcio, a team-mate of Júlio César at Inter Milan. The veteran centre-half is still going strong at the top of the European game,

Third Pick - Hernanes

"He is playing very well," says Zagallo, as he casts his vote in the direction of the Lazio man. Hernanes is a representative of the 'new generation' of the Brazilian national side.
