Twice a coach of Brazil and formerly in charge of Valencia, South Africa, Ghana and Saudi Arabia, Carlos Alberto Parreira knows a thing or two about footballing talent and has cast his votes as follows.

“Daniel Alves of Barcelona. He had an excellent season at Barcelona and is a full-back that defends well and attacks well also. He is also part of a fabulous team and a certain starter for Brazil. He deserves it,” Parreira said, speaking exclusively to Sambafoot at the Soccerex event in Rio de Janeiro.

“Hulk of Porto is my second choice. He is the best finisher in Portugal today and had a fine season.

“Finally, Thiago Silva of AC Milan, who is now certainly one of the best centre-backs in football.

“Depending on if they continue like this and on the coach as well, they will probably all be involved in the World Cup in 2014.”
