Santo’s defender Andre Luis Garcia has attracted the attention of German champions Werder Bremen.
Garcia helped Santos to win the Brazilian championship, but the 25-year-old centre back has fulfilled his contract and is now available on a free transfer.
Werder have followed his progress for some time and coach Thomas Schaaf could feel the time is right to find a successor to Mladen Krstajic, who joined Schalke last summer, as new recruit Frank Fahrenhorst has so far failed to shine.
