The club confirmed a deal only this week for Boa Esporte-MG defender Thiago Carvalho and Gilvan confirmed to LANCENET! that talks are in progress to bring two more centre-backs to the club.

“We brought Thiago Carvalho, the Boa Esporte defender, and we are looking at two others (Mateus and Anderson), but we are not close yet.

“We have a list of more than 30 players who we have an interest in. Mateus and Anderson are amongst them, but we are just surveying our options.”

Anderson, 28, was recommended to the club by former defender Gil, who left for Valenciennes in the summer. The two are close friends and the departing player believed Anderson to be a suitable replacement.

Mateus, 27, has been starring for Portuguesa in Serie B this season. The player is from Minas Gerais and began his career in Uberaba. Having excelled at Ypiranga-RS, he moved to Portuguesa and continued his rapid progress, drawing interest from São Paulo amongst others.
