Emerson Leão takes command of the team on Monday and has signed a contract until the end of the year with the Tricolor, with the possibility of extending this partnership.

In his time at São Paulo in the 2004-05 season, Leão led the club to the Paulista Championship, but has also won two Campeonato Brasileiro titles as a manager, as well as two Copa CONMEBOL, now known as the Copa Sudamericana.

“Leão fits perfectly into what we want. He is a successful manager, who has a strong identification with the fans of São Paulo,” said Director of Football Adalberto Baptista.

In his first spell at the club, Leão took charge of fourty-five games, winning twenty-seven, with twelve draws and six defeats.

“My return to São Paulo is a reunion with the past,” said Leão. “It is the right place at the right time.

“I am very happy to return to Sao Paulo. I know the club and the club knows me.”
