Confederations Cup 2013 host cities announced

The Confederations Cup is the warm-up event for the FIFA World Cup and Rio de Janeiro, Brasilia, Belo Horizonte and Fortaleza are guaranteed to host part of the tournament.  Other than those cities, Recife and Salvador will also host first-round matches if they are on schedule by June 2013. The Confederations Cup is the warm-up event for the FIFA World Cup and Rio de Janeiro, Brasilia, Belo Horizonte and Fortaleza are guaranteed to host part of the tournament. 

Other than those cities, Recife and Salvador will also host first-round matches if they are on schedule by June 2013.

What is known is that the opening match will be in Brasilia, the capital of Brazil, whilst the Semi-Finals will be in Belo Horizonte and Fortaleza. The final, as for the World Cup itself, will be at the Maracana in Rio de Janeiro.

The following countries have already qualified for the Confederations Cup: Brazil, the hosts; Spain, reigning world champions; Uruguay, champions of the Copa America; Japan, champions of Asia and Mexico, Gold Cup winner. 

The final three spots are still open and will go to the winners of EURO 2012, the 2013 African Cup of Nations and the 2012 Oceania champions.
