It is perceived that the biggest hindrance to Casemiro’s development is the players own ego.

The player was the star of the youth teams at São Paulo and is now struggling to come to terms with not being the centre of attention anymore, with team-mate Lucas Moura grabbing many of the plaudits.

The player was dropped earlier in the season, due to problems with his physical shape and mental aptitude. However, matters came to a head once more last week against Cruzeiro.

Coming on in the final few minutes, Casemiro attempted two misplaced backheel passes, one of which led directly to the red card of Denilson. Boss Adilson Batista gave the player a dressing-down post-game and believes the player could learn much from Denilson’s simple passing game.

Casemiro is undoubtedly a special talent, but he must correct the faults already noticed by the São Paulo management if he is to fulfill his potential.
