The duo have been working together for a while and while Kaique has far to go before realising his potential in the footballing world, he is making a good start – having been selected for this month’s South American Under-15 Championships in Uruguay.

“I treat him as a child,” said Liédson. “I’m like a father, someone who can give advice to put him on the right track.

“But, I soon realized I did not need to give him much instruction, he has been brought up well.”

Liédson recently took the young star on a weekend trip to former-Sporting clubmate Derlei’s beach-house. Kaique’s family believe that his experiences with Liédson can only help his later career.

“He shares his experience with Kaique, shows him what can and can not do,” said the academy player’s mother, Lucia. “He is learning. Today, he just dreams of being a great player and shining for Corinthians.”

Liédson was gushing with praise for his young protogées prgoress in recent times.

“Every time he has a game, I say to our manager, ‘Hey, how was our Phenomenon?’ And he was always good, or scored, or made significant strides forward.

“He is producing with great consistancy for a player his age, he is full of energyand has a good career ahead.

“The foundation of a player depends not only on on-the-pitch matters, you must have people outside watching, guiding and leading the way.

“Young people have a responsibility earlier, they create expectations at clubs, but they think simply of the millions, and gets in the way. You must have guidance.

Kaique however, for the moment is just glad to receive the praise of his mentor.

“It’s great to hear these words from Liedson, I’m very happy,” says the 15-year-old. “I try to do as much as possible of what he tells me, so to hear these positive words about me it is very good.
