Gilvan de Pinho Tavares has been elected President of Minas Gerais giants Cruzeiro, with 89% of the members votes.
The lawyer will now serve a three-year term at the helm of the club on the verge of relegation, with Zezé Perrella having overseen a fire-sale of many of their biggest assets in recent months.
Tavares has a long association with Cruzeiro, having joined the club as a youth player in the 1950's and having joined as a member aged only eleven.
The new President secured 391 of the 439 votes on the day and will now set-about rebuilding last year's runner-up to become a force to be reckoned with once more.
