D’Alessandro spoke with Argentina team doctors yesterday, who confirmed that a strain in his left hamstring would cause him to miss the second leg of the ‘Superclasico de las Americas.’

The Internacional midfielder was one of four Brazilian-based players called up by Argentina for the game, along with club teammates Pablo Guinazu and Mario Bolatti and Cruzeiro’s Walter Montillo.

He has won 25 caps for Argentina since 2003, scoring three goals, but will be unable to add to them when the game takes place in Belem on Wednesday night.

Argentina will also be without goalkeeper Esteban Andrada, who like D’Alessandro is injured.
