Breno was taken in by police due to their belief that he could abscond after his house burnt down in an unexplained case recently.

He is currently believed to be suffering from depression due to physical problems and arguments with his wife.

“Breno is sick,” his lawyer Werner Leitner is quoted as saying by Terra. “He needs help, not punishment. He has a very difficult personal situation.”

However, Leitner added that he was optimistic that Breno would be released as soon as possible, and was supported by Bayern chairman Uli Hoeness.

“It is unacceptable to put out an arrest warrant for a young man who is completely devastated,” said Hoeness. “He cannot work anywhere other than a football club.”
