The Munich prosecutor has ordered his arrest on the grounds there is a risk of him absconding over the incident.

The fire happened in the early hours of Tuesday morning while Breno was the only person home and his wife and three children weren’t at the location.

Shortly after the fire, team-mate and fellow Brazilian Raffael appeared on the scene with Breno’s family and were helpless in stopping the blaze.

According to reports, three lighters were found on the scene and there are continuing suspicions over the cause of the fire, hence the arrest of the defender.

Sources inside the investigation said they are looking into the possibility the fire wasn’t fortuitous and with Breno the only person in the house at the time, he would be the main suspect.

The player has denied these allegations though in a statement issued by his representatives.

The statement read: “The player, Breno, says there are unfounded suspicions about the cause of this fire that destroyed his home in Germany.

“The player would like to thank all the support from Bayern fans and also from the board of directors. The athlete continues to recover from the incident and will soon resume normal activity.”

Bayern Munich haven’t discussed the case but are surprised about the nature of the arrest. Breno will be available for Bayern as he will be released on bail and is currently living in a hotel with his family.
