Sambafoot was able to bring you the shocking story yesterday of the potential Match fixing between Fortaleza v CRB in order to make sure the home side avoided relegation.

There has been new developments today as the President, William Simoes, and Directors of Campinense football club have travelled to Rio to put forward their case in front of the STJD.

It was believed this case would be dealt with by the CBF (the Brazilian FA) but Simoes confirmed that he doesn’t want to waste time and will let the local FA (the Paraibana Football Federation, FPF) contact the national body on the situation.

Simoes confirmed: “We aren’t in contact with the CBF, and are letting the FPF do that. The FPF will be watching developments with the CBF.

“We are going to Rio de Janeiro just to get representation in front of the STJD as this is most important.”

It is expected that the other clubs involved, CRB, who were playing Fortzleza, and Guarany Sobral, who were playing Campinense, will come and put forward their case in front of the court. Guarany Sobral have already warned the relevant bodies that they have no case to answer and the club most at risk from the situation is Fortaleza.

Carlinhos Bala, a player for Fortaleza, has told Globoesporte.com that there is no case to answer and that they other clubs will find it hard to prove anything.

He commented: “I was surprised by the whole situation. When the game ended, I went over to the bench to rest because of the celebrations of staying up.

“These other clubs will now find it hard to prove what they are talking about.”

Bala is clearly involved with the scandal because you can see from the attached video, he is the player who holds up the index finger seemingly to signal ‘one more goal’ to the opposition.

However, he has defended himself, saying Campinense’s version of his actions are wrong and that he was actually mocking his opposition, rather than fixing the result.

Bala contined: “I was waving at the left-back as he was constantly doubtful of our ability. I said to them I would score a goal and I did, hence my actions.”

The player has even gone as far to say he will bring Campinense and Guarany Sobrel to court over libel with the match-fixing allegations.

He added: “I did not see at any one time a defender say ‘leave open’, or us asking to give us one more goal. The clearest evidence we have are the four goal we scored.

“We will have justice too. It is slander against us and could destroy our reputation, and Fortzleza’s name.”

This ongoing saga will have more developments over the course of the week, and the only place bringing you this news is Sambafoot.
