Porto midfielder Carlos Alberto’s agent has reacted coolly to reports linking his client with a move to Corinthians.

Corinthians are making waves in the transfer market, having recently snared Carlos Tevez from Boca Juniors, and it is being claimed they are looking to bolster their ranks with the capture of Carlos Alberto.

The player’s agent is set to speak with Porto early in the New Year to gauge their thoughts on the young forward’s position at the club.

“There are many things said in the Brazilian and Portuguese newspapers about the possibility of Carlos Alberto being transferred to Corinthians,” said the player’s agent Richard Alda.

“But I haven’t received any official offer yet from that team and even from the investor group that has a financial partnership with them.

“At the moment, the only thing that I can say is that I have a meeting with the officials of Porto on January 5 and I will ask them what their plans are for next year.

“Carlos Alberto adapted very quickly to European football and in one year, he has won four titles with Porto, so he is very happy there.”

Corinthians may have money to burn, but they will not find it easy to land the Brazilian, as he claimed recently there were a clutch of European clubs keen on his services.
