Figueirense 1-2 Sao Paulo

The visitors went in front shortly before half-time, when Cicero got on the end of a free-kick to head in from close range.

Figueirense equalised three minutes after the break. Sao Paulo failed to clear a corner effectively, allowing Joao Paulo to scuff in from 12 yards.

On the hour mark, Rivaldo scored what proved to be the winner for Sao Paulo. The veteran forward feinted to shoot, before chipping a delightful finish over the hosts’ goalkeeper.

Atletico Mineiro 2-0 Avai

Atletico were on top early on, and deservedly took the lead 28 minutes in, when Avai’s Arlan diverted a low cross into his own net.

The visitors almost levelled when they had an effort cleared off the line, but with ten minutes remaining Atletico sealed the win.

Daniel Carvalho shook off the attention of two defenders on the edge of the penalty area, and fired in a low shot across the goalkeeper that zipped into the bottom corner.
