Brasileirão: Borges brace gives Santos victory

Santos won their second game in a row in the Campeonato Brasileiro last night, with two goals from Borges handing them a 2-1 win over Fluminense.

Borges headed the home side in front after 13 minutes, getting on the end of Elano's deep cross from a free-kick. Fluminense equalised 25 minutes later through Rafael Moura, who also got his head on the end of a long-distance free-kick delivery.

But Santos were not to be denied, and just three minutes later they re-took the lead. Borges found space 15 yards out and smashed an unstoppable effort past the Fluminense 'keeper, and it proved to be enough for the win.

After his double strike, Borges is now top scorer in the Brasileirão, with 12 goals, just ahead of Ronaldinho, who has ten. Santos are now up to 14th place in the table and still have one more game in hand.
