The biggest talking point to come out of Sabella’s selection is the return to the national team of Juan Roman Riquelme, who had previously not featured since October 2008. Also included are Juan Sebastian Veron and Wigan Athletic striker Mauro Boselli, who is currently on loan at Estudiantes.

Both sides have agreed to name only domestic-based players for the friendly matches next month, with all of Sabella’s squad currently playing in Argentina. It means the Seleção will still be able to call on the likes of Neymar, Ganso and Ronaldinho.

The full Argentina squad for the games against Brazil on September 14 and September 28 is as follows:

Goalkeepers: Marcelo Barovero (Velez Sarsfield), Agustin Orion (Boca Juniors).

Defenders: Sebastian Dominguez, Emiliano Papa (both Velez Sarsfield), Christian Cellay, Leandro Desabato (both Estudiantes), Ivan Pillud (Racing Club), Clemente Rodriguez (Boca Juniors), Jonathan Bottinelli (San Lorenzo), Lisandro Lopez (Arsenal de Sarandi).

Midfielders: Augusto Fernandez, Hector Canteros (both Velez Sarsfield), Rodrigo Brana, Juan Sebastian Veron (both Estudiantes), Lucas Castro, Agustin Pelletieri (both Racing Club), Cristian Chavez, Juan Roman Riquelme (both Boca Juniors), Diego Valeri (Lanus).

Forwards: Juan Manuel Martinez (Velez Sarsfield), Maruo Boselli, Gaston Fernandez (both Estudiantes), Gabriel Hauche (Racing Club), Emanuel Gigliotti (San Lorenzo).
