“Spain was playing much better than us in the first 20 minutes,” Franco said. “But we made some changes and were better tactically.”

“I didn’t know that the first goal wasn’t valid,” he said after having been told that on the replay Willian appeared to be offside when he scored Brazil’s first goal. “And even if it is the case, it was a good sequence and we had a few chances before that.”

Franco believes that his players were better prepared physically and mentally for the penalty shootout. Concerning the next game against Mexico in the Semi Final, Franco only muttered: “There is not one team better than the other.”

The Semi Final between Mexico and Brazil will be on Wednesday.
