The Seleção lost 3-2 to Germany on Wednesday, with Menezes coming in for criticism after again failing to mastermind a victory against a top side. During his year in charge, Brazil have also lost to Argentina and France.

But speaking after the game, Ramires told Goal.com: “The team will make a big jump. I think we all know we could have won but we cannot lament the result.

“Every game, we give our all for the national team. Now we have to work even harder. We need to win a big game and then bring consistency into our game, and keep getting good results against the big teams.”
