Ribeiro had already confirmed that five European clubs were interested, but now it appears that these clubs have met the minimum fee stated in Neymar’s contract allowing him to speak to other teams.

Speaking to ESPN, Ribeiro said: “We don’t want to sell Neymar, but obviously there is a contractual clause they can pay. Five European clubs have met this clause. I can’t say which because that is between Santos and the clubs, but they are the most important European ones.

“They asked to speak to the player and we have obviously given them permission,” he continued. “The clubs have been ethical. They came to Santos first and showed they were willing to pay the clause. Because of this, they can speak to Neymar’s agent and his representatives.”

The clause fee mentioned is believed to be €45 million, while Veja magazine reports that the five clubs are Real Madrid, Chelsea, Barcelona, Manchester City and Anzhi Makhachkala.
