The 29-year-old was on loan at Italian side Lecce last season, who have the option to buy him outright, but Gustavo has no intention of discussing terms.
Instead, he looks likely to move to Botafogo, and told TV Gazeta: It"s pretty much all set. Something will happen on Tuesday. I was recommended by [Botafogo coach] Caio Junior, who I worked with at Palmeiras.
“Economically, it is a good deal to return to Brazil. Lecce"s squad is poor and not united, despite achieving the goal of avoiding relegation. Now, I hope to win titles with Botafogo," he concluded.
