Elano: “The fans always demand a lot, and it can be difficult when the team is not winning. But everything changes when you start getting results. We want to evolve to become champions many more times. This challenge does not bring us down; it is the only way we can grow as players."

Club captain Edu Dracena: “It"s an indescribable feeling to lift the trophy. It feels like a movie. Now it is important that we keep this group together. Everyone knows how to play with each other. If we can hold on to our big players, we will stay strong."

Goalkeeper Rafael: “We started [the Libertadores campaign] very badly. We thought we could be champions with our technique alone but that was not the case. You need determination, and the arrival of [coach] Muricy [Ramalho] was fundamental. He changed the style of our play, especially without the ball."

Ze Eduardo, who will now move to Genoa: “I leave on a high. We fought for each other, and thank God we won the title! It makes we want to stay, but my time to join Genoa has been arranged. Let"s see if Santos can win the [Club] World Cup, perhaps?"
