Love spent time on loan at Flamengo in 2010, and the club attempted to make the move permanent with a recent bid of €5 million. However, CSKA turned down the offer, and Flamengo did not follow up their interest.

Speaking to Globoesporte, Love said: “CSKA"s president did not accept the offer, but he said he was open to negotiations, which I never saw him do.

“He contacted Flamengo and told them he could set up a meeting for the end of May to sit and talk, but they never answered."

The 27-year-old, who has 21 caps for the Seleção, also revealed that after failing to sign him, Flamengo had switched their attention to Dynamo Kiev"s Andre.

“After a while [Flamengo director] Michel Levy contacted my agent and told him Flamengo were not going to sign me anymore, because Vanderlei Luxemburgo preferred Andre.

“I always expressed my desire to play at Flamengo. I like the club and the fans, but it is not going to happen now," concluded Love.
