In a lively game Avai and Vasco De Gama drew 1-1.
After a first half where both team had their chances, Avai who was playing away opened the score in the second half with a goal of Julinho. Vasco managed to come back in the game in the stoppage time when the referee gave them a penalty. Diego Souza transformed it, bringing back hope of qualification for the final.
In the other game Ceara and Coritiba also drew but with a blank score 0-0.
The second leg will be played next week.
