The 35-year-old Dutchman is out of contract at the San Siro this summer, and media sources have linked him with a switch to Botafogo, Flamengo and Corinthians. Botafogo president Maurice Assumpção had made it clear that he would spare no expense to sign the four-time Champions League winner.

But Seedorf has gone some way to extinguishing these rumours, and according to ESPN, said: “I have not met with any Botafogo directors personally. Maybe someone else did on my behalf.

“I don’t know if I will stay at Milan next season, but I had a very friendly meeting and we’ll talk again next week. We want to end the season with a victory against Udinese first, and then we will discuss it.”

Botafogo have been linked to many big name signings ahead of the new Brasileirão season, including Diego, who is currently unhappy at Wolfsburg after falling out with the management team. He recently refused to play in a vital game against Hoffenheim, and Botafogo hope to offer the former Juventus man a way out.

The Brazilian club have also been rumoured to be interested in Werder Bremen’s Naldo, Andrezinho of Internacional and 2006 Seleção World Cup player Ricardinho, who had a brief spell at Middlesbrough and is currently a free agent after being released by Atletico Mineiro.
