How do you feel with your current team ?
Eduardo
I’m really very happy with my new team which has trusted me and has given to me the opportunity to show my capabilities. This year, the team is competitive. I’m glad to work with my colleagues who are excellent professionals.
We converse a lot, we are friends, Toulouse FC is a big family.
Everyone here has given me force to begin the French championship.
The team is very welded together for two years, it is what makes our force.

You have never played in a club of reputation in Brazil. How did Charleroi discover you, as you played for Vasco Acreano?
Eduardo
I was located in Italy where I was 3 months in preparation. An Italian impresario came into contact with Charleroi and thus I signed my first professional contract in Europe. This year, it makes 4 years and half which I play abroad

What memories do you have of your 3 years spent in Belgium?
Eduardo
I only have good memories of this time. Charleroi opened doors to me and I thank the club for it. I played during 3 years in Belgium. I was well looked after by everyone, my colleagues, the president. I have only good memories of the team, which always gave me my chance to prove my qualities.

Which club do you support in Brazil?
Eduardo
I am a Flamengo’s fan. I am a big fan, I like to belong to the “Torcida". Unfortunately, the club is in delicate situation in championship and I hope that they will avoid relegation in the second division.

Would you interested in a return to Brazilian Football? And for which club would like you to play?
Eduardo
My dream is to return one day to Brazil to play in a large team like Flamengo. I do not know if I will return quickly in my country. My wish is to remain still 5 years in Europe, until my 30th birthday and then returning to Brazil and playing Flamengo.

You are "Carioca". how do you explain the decline of the clubs of Rio de Janeiro?
Eduardo
Many players who play in Rio’s club are quickly transferred to paulista teams or European clubs. Which inevitably weakens the carioca’s championship. If one observes well, that already exists since step badly of years. Sometimes, they are the impresarios and presidents of clubs which encourage this type of initiatives. More and more, the clubs do not have even the budget to pay the monthly wages of the players who need to pay for all there family. To give you an idea, with the current situation of the country, the majority of the Brazilian clubs do not even manage to pay the minimum wage which a player in Europe gains.

Which are your personal objectives for 2005?
Eduardo
I would like to have a good championship, to play well and try to maintain our position in the league. Currently we are well positioned in championship. I would wish that in 2005 the club finish at least within the top four. It would be marvellous for everyone.
Thank you very much in Eduardo for the exclusive interview on Samba Foot!
