Corinthians coach Mano Menezes has been confirmed as Brazil’s new coach.

The CBF had said earlier on Saturday that they had offered Corinthians coach Menezes the chance to lead Brazil to the 2014 World Cup.

“I have the honour to inform you that I was approached by the Brazilian Football Confederation to take over the post of national team coach,” 48-year-old Menezes told a news conference Corinthians headquarters.

“I have come here to officially confirm that I have accepted the offer.”

It is believed that Menezes was the CBF’s second choice after Fluminense refused to release Muricy Ramalho from his contract which runs until December.

It remains to be seen if Menezes’s will survive until the 2014 finals, he will be judged on the teams performances in the Copa America in Argentina in 2011 and the London Olympics in 2012.

Meneze’s won’t need to wait long to have his first game as the CBF are set to announce a friendly against the USA on August the 10th in New Jersey.
