Ramires who is just returning from a spell on the sidelines at a moment of turmoil for the club is enjoying playing under the Portuguese manager. Will the Brazilian’s return help Chelsea secure a top-four place?
You are having a great year for Chelsea? What do you think has changed from last season?
It’s simple, it’s a question of freedom. Last year I did not have much under Ancelotti and this year I have more with Villas-Boas. He already knew me from Portugal, he knew my style and what I could contribute to the team – speed and physicality.
How were you playing and how are you playing at the moment?
We were playing with three defensive midfielder, but always forming a line of four in the midfield. You could never leave this set-up, anticipating the play, instead you always had to stay in that line. When the ball came in-and-out of there, you were marked, but you couldn’t leave your position. Villas-Boas has already given me a bit more freedom. I was playing a bit more from the right in some games, before he moved me to become the point of the midfield. I played this way for Cruzeiro under Adilson Batista, who really improved me as a footballer.
